Cape Porpoise, Maine

Kennebunkport, occasional home of George H. W. Bush and his family, has lost much of its earlier charm and informality. Once a place for quiet walks along the harbor docks and rocky seashore, it is now a high-priced destination of spas and golf. But just two miles northeast of Kennebunkport is Cape Porpoise, a tiny village that retains a flavor of rural and seaside Maine from earlier times. Principal industry today is, as has been for many years, lobster fishing.
